Aliyu Elkana, a seasoned Advocacy and Accountability expert, boasts over two decades of experience in development work. His diverse skill set includes expertise in health system strengthening, organizational capacity building, conflict resolution, and facilitation. Holding an MA in International Relations and a BA in History,
Elkana has played pivotal roles in various health projects across northern Nigeria, demonstrating proficiency in program management, governance accountability, advocacy, and resource mobilization.
Elkana serves as the State Advisor for Evidence for Options- Evidence for
Action (E4A-MamaYe) Programme in Kaduna, Elkana has achieved significant milestones. Notably, he successfully facilitated state entry meetings, mapped BMGF grantees, and developed budgets. His leadership elevated the visibility of E4A-MamaYe program in Kaduna, contributing to positive outcomes like gender transformative advocacy training and improved reporting of maternal and perinatal deaths through the Community-Maternal Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response (CMPDSR) intervention.
Aliyu’s prior roles include Program Manager at Bauchi Partnership Against Poverty, Local Government Development Coordinator at TSHIP USAID Project, and Accountability Coordinator for Maternal, New-born, and Child Health (MNCH2) programme in Kaduna. Noteworthy achievements include the establishment of the Kaduna Maternal Accountability Mechanism (KADMAM) and the Coalition of CSOs on Human Capital Development.
His extensive education and professional short training courses underscore his commitment to continuous improvement.
